The author of this book, Mr. Rob Huddleston, has such a deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming that it seems that he is consciously using the fundamental principles of Object-Oriented Programming to govern the structure of his book – to a great success! As a result of this approach, the content of the book is broken down into small, concise, self-contained, easy to understand elements. The book presents its subject matter with incredible clarity and precision. I’ve read many books on ActionScript, and I’m astonished to see that it typically takes the author of this book one sentence to explain in detail the meaning of something that would take an entire chapter to most of the praised authors of other ActionScript books (including the ones praised by yours truly.) So the book is not only meticulous and detailed, but also quite short. Rob Huddleston makes such a relatively complex language as ActionScript 3.0 easy to understand. Probably the best ActionScript 3.0 book currently available. Will save you weeks. Most highly recommended.
Rating: 5 / 5
The book is the best ActionScript Book I have found – as far as format – it is so easy to thumb through and learn with each topic broken into little pertinent boxes. As a designer/developer I am very impressed with it – and I have bought a ton of books in this and related technical fields. Don’t let the cover design fool you – this is a wonderful up-to-date source for learning all about AS3 – no kidding.
