This book covers the exam objectives in the new CCIE Routing and Switching Written Exam #350-001 as updated in August 2002. Cisco Press works directly with the CCIE team at Cisco Systems to develop materials that are accurate and up to date. The topics covered in this new CCIE exam are matched by the contents of CCIE Routing and Switching Exam Certification Guide. The first topic listed on the exam blueprint, Cisco Device Operation, is covered in Chapter 3. General Networking theory is addressed in Chapter 2. Readers can find detailed information on Bridging and LAN Switching in Chapter 4. Internet Protocol is covered in Chapter 6, while IP Routing Protocols are covered in Chapters 7 through 10.
