Let’s start with the question every Dan Brown fan wants answered: Is The Lost Symbol as good as The Da Vinci Code? Simply put, yes. Brown has mastered the art of blending nail-biting suspense with random arcana (from pop science to religion), and The Lost Symbol is an enthralling mix. And what a dazzling accomplishment that is, considering that rabid fans and skeptics alike are scrutinizing every word.
The Lost Symbol begins with an ancient ritual, a shadowy enclave, and of course, a secret. Readers know they are in Dan Brown territory when, by the end of the first chapter, a secret within a secret is revealed. To tell too much would ruin the fun of reading this delicious thriller, so you will find no spoilers here. Suffice it to say that as with many series featuring a recurring character, there is a bit of a formula at work (one that fans will love). Again, brilliant Harvard professor Robert Langdon finds himself in a predicament that requires his vast knowledge of symbology and superior problem-solving skills to save the day. Dan Brown has done it once again. He’s used a thriller to promote his religious ideas, specifically the New Age religion. The Lost Symbol ends by concluding that God does not exist, that man created Him. Dan Brown states categorically with no room for debate that man can become god and actually is god.
Truly after the plethora of historical inaccuracies and the liberty taken with art history in the Da Vinci Code combined with his attacks the person of Christ, could we have expected anything less for him now? He has not changed his stripes.
There is a reason Brown kept the plot of this novel in the dark for so long. He did not want knowledge of its content to harm sales. He is attempting to kill God, but of course, that is impossible. He is to be pitied.

I pre-ordered this book, and expected to get it (as advertised) on the release date. Imagine my surprise to find that I have a ship date of September 21. I’ve spoken to Amazon customer service, which was no help, and the customer service representative said I should have ordered priority shipping. I have pre-ordered on Amazon before with great results, even for Harry Potter and Twilight books. It’s too late to cancel the order and just pick it up at my local bookstore. I didn’t really want to wait until October to get this book, and am very disappointed in Amazon, especially the very rude service representative.

If i had to rate this book for marketing and promotion success, i wouldnt hesitate a second to click on 5 star. Next year i bet it is going to hit the theatres.

Dan Brown has returned with another shocking waste of natural resources. 5 years of research – Doing what? watching old Discovery channel konspirata CDs? And worse writing. Of course, it will be a best seller. This is the same country that elected a total incompetent for President twice, and shakes with orgasmic ecstasy over Survivor:Malibu. This is complete dreck and you should be ashamed of yourselves for reading it
